Gifted Services
Glascock County provides services for identified gifted students at all grade levels. The gifted program is designed to meet the very specific academic needs of these students by emphasizing the following competencies:
- Creative, productive, and critical thinking
- Extensive and advanced research skills
- Skills for independent learning
Gifted students in elementary school are served through advanced content classes in English/Language art and gifted students in middle school are served through advanced content classes in Mat. Advanced content courses present more complex subject matter at an accelerated pace. Students in advanced content classes are expected to go beyond baseline standards and develop the critical thinking, reasoning, and writing skills in core content areas that will ensure academic success during their academic careers.
Gifted Evaluation Process
All gifted assessments in the Glascock County School System adhere to the rules and regulations established by the Georgia Department of Education. There are three steps in the process of identification and placement of students into the gifted program: referral, assessment, and determination of eligibility.
